In early 2010, Making It Home included a series of film festivals exploring the connections between people and place with a fresh collection of films from around the world.

FILMS: Find out about the films screened at the Festivals in 2010!

The Making It Home Film Festivals were held in Baraboo, Dodgeville, Milwaukee, and the Chequamegon Bay region (Ashland/Bayfield) in the early spring of 2010. The festivals kicked off during Aldo Leopold Days in Baraboo and closed during Earth Day weekend in Ashland.

The Making it Home Film Festival hosts and the WHC worked together to design four weekends of events reflecting the people and spirit of Wisconsin, as well as the unique landscapes of the regional festival sites. Each Making it Home Film Festival was unique, with films selected from the 2009 Tales from Planet Earth Environmental Film Festival.

In conversations after watching the Making it Home films, each community discussed what defines our homes and communities - both the cultural and historical ties that bind us together and the environmental and social justice challenges that we face.

Making it Home Film Festivals were proudly presented by the Wisconsin Humanities Council, where we support and create programs that use history, culture, and conversation to strengthen community life for everyone in Wisconsin.
